25 Christmas Houses for Your Advent Calendar
When night falls over Greenland and the only sound is the crunch of snow underfoot, the little houses light up the landscape, casting a warm glow through their small windows.
This advent calendar was inspired by my own experience during a visit to Greenland. The colorful houses in Nuuk’s old town, set against a backdrop of icebergs, were one of the most beautiful sights I’ve ever seen. The view was so breathtaking that I’ve dreamed of recreating it ever since.
That dream is now brought to life in this charming advent calendar featuring 25 vibrant Christmas houses. They are simple to assemble, and the set also includes cutouts of an iceberg, a seal, and a Christmas tree, so you can build your very own Greenlandic holiday scene.
What’s Included?
The package contains 25 Christmas houses in a range of ten colors: red, yellow, black, turquoise, pink, orange, green, blue, light green, and gray. Each house is numbered from 1 to 25 and comes in a downloadable PDF format, ready for you to print. Note: The PDF is non-editable. You can fill each house with small gifts or notes, or simply let them decorate your space for the holiday season.
You’ll also receive two cutout sheets featuring seals, a snowman, a Christmas tree, a polar bear, icebergs, reindeer, a sled dog, and a snow-covered mountain peak, so you can craft your very own Greenlandic Christmas landscape.
NOTE: The houses come without contents.
Here’s how you do it!
Click the black button above to go to Etsy, where the item is sold. Select US Letter (if you live in the United States or Canada) or A4 (rest of the world). Add the product to your Cart and proceed to Checkout. Complete your purchase – and then check your email inbox! Download the PDF file and save it to your computer. The PDF file cannot be edited.
Print the houses and decorations in color on A4 / 8.5″x11″ paper. Tips for easy printing! Start by cutting out the 25 houses. Fold along the edges and flaps to form a small box. The houses are built around the gray base. Apply glue to the flaps and carefully press them together. Before attaching the roof, place a small gift inside each house.
For the figures, cut around them loosely and fold the stand-flap on the back. You can then arrange them with the houses to create a beautiful Greenlandic holiday scene. If you like, you can also add small plastic animals and a miniature Christmas tree for extra decoration.
If you prefer a simple Christmas landscape without the advent calendar, use a craft knife to cut out the yellow sections of the windows and trim the bottoms. On the back of the house, cut out a small door-shaped square to remove the numbering. Now you can insert small lights inside each house to make them glow.
